The ‘22 Summer Prep Blog

It’s here! Welcome to the annual Collins & Company Summer Prep Blog, where we give you a brand new updated list of all things summer, including events around town and home décor pieces.

For the home…

Outdoor fire pit

Picture this: It’s one of those cooler summer nights and you’re sitting on the back patio with friends & family, roasting marshmallows around the fire. We picture that fire being housed in a modern pit like this one. Currently on sale from Pottery Barn, this concrete gas fire pit table is a perfect one for not only the summertime, but when the nights get cooler as well.

Vintage Cane Mirror

This decorative mirror with wood and cane border features is a prime summer-y statement piece for any room in your home. This one has a vintage design to it as well, making it especially special.

Acrylic, Fluted Glassware

Serve up classic summer drinks like refreshing pina coladas or ice-cold lemonade in these unique glasses from West Elm. Choose from a variety of warm, summer-y colors like pink grapefruit and silver pine.

Beach House Pillow Covers

Not every home in Florida is a true “beach home,” so why not make it seem like it by bringing in these decorative pillow covers to throw on any couch or bench? Grab a set of these handmade, suede pillow covers to set a seaside ambience!

Around town…

Summer Series: Yacht Rock concert

On Friday, June 17 at 7 p.m., Mizner Park Amphitheater is hosting a yacht rock concert night as part of their summer concert series! Listen to covers of all the best soft rock hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s under the stars while lounging in a beach chair with a blanket.

July 4th Celebration

Bring the whole family to downtown Delray Beach to celebrate Independence Day, where the city will put on a spectacular fireworks display, serve food and drinks, offer activities, and much more! The fun starts at 5 p.m.

Go on a weekend getaway…

Destination: The Florida Keys

Switch up your weekend beach routine by heading to one in the Keys instead! From Miami, you can arrive at Key West in about 3 hours, so it’s a doable long-weekend destination. Not only will you have tons of charming, beachside Airbnbs and resorts to choose from, but Key West is also full of history and impeccable dining experiences. You’ll be able to fill up the weekend in no time.

Summer recipes…

Tomato-Peach Salad

Not only is summer the time to incorporate bright, fresh produce into your diet, but it’s also appropriate to add fruit to your salads! This unique peach and tomato salad is great as a side dish-- bonus points if you grill the peaches beforehand!

Key Lime Pie Mousse

Key lime is a staple pie flavor in the summertime, but pie can be a lot to tackle, especially homemade. If you’re craving the key lime flavor but don’t want the hassle, try these mini key lime mousse cups! They’re perfect for serving at a dinner party or get together, too.

Happy summer!
