5 Home Pieces in 2023 Colors of the Year

Happy New Year! To kick off 2023 (and every year before it), paint companies like Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams announce their “Colors of the Year” lists filled with the hues they predict will be the most popular in the months to come. The common theme of this year’s many color picks seems to be “self-expression,” whereas last year, more earthy, natural tones set the scene. While the color lists are extensive and vary between sources, we’re sharing our top 5 picks through a home furnishing or accessory in this blog post so you can be inspired to incorporate this year’s trends in your residence.

1. Spanish Moss - Mario Bellini Sofa

Bring a deep-hued green into your home with this funky sectional sofa from Mario Bellini.  Spanish moss was deemed 2023’s Color of the Year by Krylon, with the paint company labeling the shade as “the new neutral.” Green like this color can be incorporated seamlessly alongside other neutral tones; with a main accent piece like this velvet sofa, it’s best in a room with white or beige walls and wooden accents.

2. Redend Point - Sinatra Faux Leather Dining Chair

Speaking of neutrals, this year’s color pick by Sherwin-Williams perfectly combines two popular and versatile shades: beige and blush. The pink undertones and grounding feeling evoked by the beige can easily fit into most spaces. Our pick in this color is this abstract faux leather dining chair by Chic Home; these chairs are a change from the boring, stiff dining chairs usually found surrounding tables, providing you & your guests with a more cushioned, curved seat for extra comfort.

3. Terra Rosa - Upholstered Ottoman

Similar to the previous shade but deeper and more rosy in color, this color pick by Dunn-Edwards blends brown and burgundy to create a rose-like color that can serve as a complementary accessory to your space or stand alone as its own accent piece. Wayfair shows off this color through this sleek, contemporary ottoman that can be used as a coffee table or footrest in your living room.

4. Vining Ivy - The Wait Art Piece

Bring the blue-green hues of the deep ocean into your home with Vining Ivy, Glidden’s 2023 Color of the Year through this actual snapshot of a scene at sea. Like the ocean itself, this color is energizing yet relaxing at the same time, bringing a zen presence & vivid focal point to any space, all at the same time. This color can be incorporated into your home in many unique ways, especially through an art print like this one.

5. Blank Canvas - Bayport Writing Desk

If writing or journaling more is on your 2023 resolutions list, this writing desk in Behr’s color of the year, “Blank Canvas,” may be for you! This shade of white adds an element of warmth to any space thanks to its creamy undertones, making it a perfect base shade for a wall color or larger piece like a bed or desk. This writing desk in the cool cream color is ideal for a home office, bedroom workspace, or even as an entryway table.
