Choose Airbnb This Holiday Season

Happy December! No matter what or how you celebrate, this time of year is full of traveling, parties and celebrations, and spending time with loved ones. What’s one thing these all have in common? The holiday season is usually spent in homes, gathering areas and hotel rooms, but what if you switched up the routine a little this year? Rather than opting for expensive hotel rooms, switch things up by incorporating Airbnb into your travel, party and gifting plans.

Why Airbnb?

At this point, Airbnb is a widely known brand among pretty much everyone. It had its start in simple vacation home rentals, from quaint small-town homes with owners who wanted to make a little extra income to extravagant mansions and castles in hot vacation spots. Now, if you didn’t already know, the Airbnb platform includes experiences available for purchase, like exploring old-school New York City spots and getting a traditional Yantra tattoo in Thailand. Not only can you now immerse yourself in the city you’re visiting by staying in an actual home there, but you can also be taken around town with a local.

Whether you’re visiting family in another state or taking a holiday vacation anywhere in the world, skip the Hampton Inn and Marriott Hotels this year and find an Airbnb property instead (and tell your friends and relatives to do so, too). Why? Yes, it’s a cultural, local immersion, but it can also make wherever you are feel a little more like home. You’ll have a kitchen to cook and store leftovers in as well as your own bedrooms for more privacy. Did you also know that on average, Airbnb home prices are less expensive than nightly hotel room rates? Yes, you read that right-- a whole house in some cities can be more affordable than a single hotel room! According to Business Insider, most U.S. cities have Airbnb properties that could save travelers money when compared to hotels, and in Europe, the average hotel rate can be nearly double the rate of an Airbnb property. For instance, the average Airbnb property in NYC is $81 less than the average hotel price, as well as Boston being $32 less, Vienna, Austria, being $72 less, and Paris, France, being $104 less. If it saves you money, why wouldn’t you look into booking an Airbnb property instead?

If you’re one to throw holiday parties or celebrations, Airbnb properties could also serve as replacement venues if you think your home is too small or don’t want to book out a restaurant’s banquet room this year. While bookers, of course, must abide by the host’s home rules and basic common courtesy, Airbnbs could give you a fun and unique opportunity to host a gathering in a home with a larger-than-life dining room or breathtaking views of the beach or the city.

Airbnb’s updated experiences and plethora of properties can also make for super unique gifts, too! If you know someone who’s booked a sunny getaway in Mexico or a picturesque vacation to Europe, book them an Airbnb experience in the same city as your holiday gift to them! Or, you could gift a one night stay at a local property-- maybe it’s a waterfront home or a cabin by the lake-- for a weekend getaway present.

No matter what you do with Airbnb’s platform, you can’t go wrong with anything. Did you know we have our own Airbnb listing in Delray Beach, too? If you have lots of family coming to town but not a lot of spare bedrooms, direct them to our property to have as their own for the duration of their stay! Or, if you’re still looking for somewhere to get away yourself, look no further.
